13 participants require 3 byes. The bracket has 4 rounds and 15 main matches: 8 first-round matches, 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and 1 final. With 2 courts, the first round takes 4 slots; later rounds use 2, 1 and 1 slots.
8 participants produce 14 matches before a reset: 7 in winners, 6 in losers and 1 grand final. If the winners-bracket champion wins that grand final, the tournament ends at match 14. If that undefeated finalist loses, the engine adds reset match 15 so both finalists have the same loss allowance.
With 4 participants, n(n−1)/2 is 4×3/2 = 6 matches over 3 logical rounds. With 7 participants, 7×6/2 = 21 matches over 7 rounds; the added bye position creates one rest each round. On 2 courts, 3 matches in a 6-participant round occupy 2 resource slots. A two-leg 6-participant schedule is 30 matches over 10 logical rounds.
Two doubles courts use eight players per round, so two people rest. Across five rounds there are ten rest assignments—exactly one per player if the schedule can distribute them perfectly. Partner repeats may still be unavoidable depending on the number of rounds.
